Our Fun Baby Girl
Abigail is incredible. Simple as that. My favorite things about her at the moment are:
She has two types of laughter. One is "fake" and she uses it when she thinks we should be laughing at/with her. The other is from her belly- tickling, Ellie, and random silliness get it out of her.
In terms of "flight or fight" responses, she is FLIGHT. A sudden loud noise, and she drops what she's doing and crawls like a madwoman in the other direction, without ever looking back.
As of this weekend, she gives kisses when asked (most of the time). It is a full on, open mouth, tongue slightly out stamp on the cheek. I have never been so happy to have so much saliva on my face. We will try to get a picture of a kiss in action when she is a little more consistent!
Abigail loves books.
My pictures aren't on the computer yet, but do enjoy the video!

Time! It Flies!
Well, Abigail is now 10 months old. She is so much fun...she laughs when we laugh, she points to everything, she claps for Mickey Mouse, and she eats a ton of food.
She has the happiest eyes and always seems to be thinking. She sits quietly while being read to- pointing at the pages, turning the pages, throwing the book down when it's finished (after waving bye-bye to every page of Good Night Moon). When asked "Where is Mama?" or "Where is Dad?" she looks in the right direction and then points to herself and says, "Ab."
We started Kindermusik a few weeks ago, which she seems to enjoy. There are about 6 other babies that are her age, and they crawl around and poke each other alot :) I'm really glad we are doing it!
The milder winter has been great for trips to the little playground down the street, lunch outside, and long afternoon walks. Plus, not having to put a big coat on every time we leave the house is nice!
She cruises around the furniture and is a speedy crawler. She can stand on her own, but only when she thinks she is still holding on to something. As soon as she realizes she doesn't have a 3rd hand on the table while the other two are clapping, she plops down.
Oh, and she loves Peek-a-Boo Barn on the iPad. Like, literally, knows how to play. It's barn that bounces up and down and you hear an animal sound. When you touch the barn, the door opens, revealing the animal- touch it again and the doors close and a new animal sound comes out. She touches and removes her hand, waits, touches again. Crazy!
Below are a couple of vides of Abigail!

Fun at the Beach!
It was Mutsy's Birthday at the beach! How fun! |
We spent a wonderful week at Holden Beach with Nana, Pa John, Aunt Katy, Davis, and Jack! The weather could not have been nicer. It was so much fun to see Jack and Abigail interact with each other (alot of grabbing at each other's faces!) and to spend time with Davis. Davis has an awesome sense of humor and that perfect little-boy twinkle to his eye.
Since the beach, Abigail has gotten her first tooth! It didn't seem to cause her that much discomfort, which I know we all appreciate. Abigail also can scoot her away around the room- I wouldn't exactly call it crawling, but she can move.

Abigail is 6 Months Old!

6 Month Stats:
16 lbs 10 oz
25 1/2 inches
loves:
riding in the grocery cart
screaming
trying to crawl
bananas
smiling at strangers
doesn't love:
squash
shots
when those strangers get too close
Favorite Book: In My Tree
I always knew that babies change rapidly during their first year of life, but it wasn't until Abigail came along that I see that those changes come daily. Every day, Abigail is more interactive, more aware of her surroundings, and showing signs of definite understanding. Also, she now sits in the front of the grocery cart and in high chairs at restaurants!
We have our routine down pretty well. A normal day starts around 8:15 am, with a morning nap, followed by 3 awesome hours of awake time, then 2 great hours of a nap in the afternoon, dinner, and bed around 8:15 pm. She still isn't consistently sleeping through the night, but we are getting closer (I sincerely hope).
She is simply lots of fun. She blows raspberries when it is quiet at church, making everyone around us giggle quietly (which prompts her to do it more), she stares at a stranger until they look at her and then she smiles a huge smile. She automatically looks for Ellie when I bring her out of her room after a nap. She is a talker.
