Abigail is 6 Months Old!

6 Month Stats:

16 lbs 10 oz
25 1/2 inches
loves:
riding in the grocery cart
screaming
trying to crawl
bananas
smiling at strangers

doesn't love:
squash
shots
when those strangers get too close

Favorite Book: In My Tree

I always knew that babies change rapidly during their first year of life, but it wasn't until Abigail came along that I see that those changes come daily.  Every day, Abigail is more interactive, more aware of her surroundings, and showing signs of definite understanding.  Also, she now sits in the front of the grocery cart and in high chairs at restaurants!

We have our routine down pretty well.  A normal day starts around 8:15 am, with a morning nap, followed by 3 awesome hours of awake time, then 2 great hours of a nap in the afternoon, dinner, and bed around 8:15 pm.  She still isn't consistently sleeping through the night, but we are getting closer (I sincerely hope).

She is simply lots of fun.  She blows raspberries when it is quiet at church, making everyone around us giggle quietly (which prompts her to do it more), she stares at a stranger until they look at her and then she smiles a huge smile. She automatically looks for Ellie when I bring her out of her room after a nap. She is a talker.

5 Months!

Abigail is 5 months old!

She wants to be in any position other than her back- stomach, tripod sitting, standing, jumping, etc. A view is what she is after- especially, as I have mentioned, of Ellie.

We are going to introduce a vegetable in the next few days, as the rice cereal doesn't seem to keep her interest (who can blame her?!).  Last night marked her first meal in her high chair!!

Weekend In Savannah

This past weekend we drove down to Savannah to visit with Grann and Gramps.  We had a great time hanging out, going to the pool, and, as always, sharing delicious meals.

Grandma Liz!

Abigail is really starting to like the water- splishing and splashing-  I think she would love it even more if that sun wasn't so bright!

She is also starting to show a bit of her personality.  She definitely understands attention and how awesome attention is.....look away for a few minutes, she will let out a whine, look back at her and she smiles :)   She also has become a big fan of blowing raspberries.  That alone keeps her (and me) entertained for longer than it should :)  And, oh! does she love Ellie.  Abigail laughs, kicks ferociously, and tracks every move of Ellie's. I think it is an unrequited love at this point....Ellie still wants our attention- she doesn't realize yet that attention from Abigail is so much better.

Abigail's First Meal and the beginnings of a Foodie

Abigail will be 5 months old in a little over a week!  For a few weeks now, we've noticed that she is up more during the night.  She isn't just awake, but she is hungry and MAD.  After talking to our doctor, Katy, and consulting the various books around the house, we decided that Abigail might be ready for rice cereal- just once a day to start.

After a wonderful weekend visiting with Grann and Gramps (and Grandma Liz and Auntie E), we thought today would be a great day to get started.   I'm not sure what we were expecting, but Abigail did a great job.  Yes, most of it ended up on her bib- but by the end it seemed that she was actually leaning into the outstretched spoon!  I think she might take after her dad ;)

Enjoy the video!
